LE TOUR DU PIC DE LA MADELEINE

This beautiful, panoramic walk along comfortable paths allows you to discover and observe the environmental effect produced by two constantly contrasting climatic influences. The valley irrigated by the Rieutort river, with its chestnut groves and foliage whose colours change with the seasons, and the drier, wilder and more deserted Grave valley, where holm oaks and heather grow side by side on the schist rock.

On the way back, those with a passion for traditional buildings will appreciate the coolness of the Saint André wash-house close to the church of the same name. The village is also worth a visit. Labastide Esparbairenque is both mountain and Mediterranean, with its interlocking houses, hanging gardens and winding streets.
