Legend has it that Pierre-Paul Riquet, the extraordinary inventor of the Canal du Midi, and André Le Nôtre, Louis XIV’s landscape architect, stayed in Fontiès-Cabardès around 1666.
At the time, Riquet was looking for a way to feed the Canal by harnessing water from the Montagne Noire, and he designed a test channel above the Alzeau intake, located a few kilometres from the village. Le Nôtre, taking advantage of his stay in Fontiers, designed the Bosquet, an example of a landscaped avenue with an infinite or slowed-down perspective.
Let’s follow in the footsteps of our two friends and set off to discover the village and its heritage! To help you along the way, they’ve devised a treasure hunt…
This game will lead you from question to answer, which you’ll find by reading the signs along the way or by using your sense of observation.
Look out for the signs, arrows and nails in the asphalt!
At each signpost, circle the letter corresponding to the correct answer, to form the 3 names of plants you’ve come across along the way.
