The ascent to the Pic de Nore is the most legendary cyclo-tourist route in the Aude department. It’s also the most widely publicized, notably through the Tour de France and the “Jalabert” cyclosportive.
The route proposed here is 14.4 km long, with a vertical drop of 895 m and an average gradient of 6.21%, reaching 8.1% at its maximum! A real route for experienced cyclists!
The sportive circuit follows the départementale n°9 from the flower-filled village of Roquefère. It climbs steadily upwards to the village of Labastide-Esparbairenque, where you can enjoy a slight flat. Follow the winding road to Pradelles-Cabardès.
On leaving the village, you follow the route des crêtes for 6 km, your final effort before reaching the summit. The gradient here is almost 7%.
Finally, you’ll reach the summit of the Pic de Nore at an altitude of 1,211 metres, where you’ll enjoy a 360° view over the Tarn, Aude and Hérault, and all the way to the Pyrenees!
