Length of experience: Saturday and/or Sunday evenings
A not-to-be-missed jazz festival
Every year since 2004, the ‘Jazz sous les châtaigniers’ festival has welcomed renowned artists from the regional, national and international scenes. Unforgettable jazz concerts await you, featuring such prestigious artists as Roberto Fonseca, Lisa Simone, Kyle Eastwood, Kellylee Evans, China Moses, Didier Lockwood, The Rosenberg Trio, Sanseverino, Bireli Lagrène, Omar Sosa, Guy Marchand, Diane Tell, Jacky Terrasson, Trio Sud, André Ceccarelli, Sylvain Luc, Angelo Debarre, Therez Montcalm, Glenn Ferris, Jean-Jacques Milteau, Laurent de Wilde, and many more.
Organised by the association ‘Musique et Culture en Cabardès’, the event takes place every first weekend in August, at the foot of the feudal castle of Roquefère.
On Friday and/or Saturday evenings, you can enjoy a unique atmosphere in this meadow bordered by a stream and surrounded by chestnut trees, where a passion for music is shared simply, under the stars.
A musical experience under the chestnut trees
The charming village of Roquefère provides the ideal natural backdrop for a jazz festival on this scale. You’ll love the intimacy of this open-air stage, located in the château grounds and surrounded by chestnut trees, as well as the friendly atmosphere for which the event is renowned. Between concerts under the stars and sharing time with other jazz fans, the experience promises to be unforgettable.
Before attending the concerts, take advantage of the refreshment points located near the entrance. You’ll find sandwiches, gourmet platters and drinks to eat while enjoying the mild summer evenings. But don’t forget to bring a jumper or jacket: the nights can be cold in the Montagne Noire, even in August.
To book your tickets, visit ticketmaster.fr or call 0892 390 100 (surcharged number). Reduced rates are available for students and jobseekers, with proof of entitlement. And for families, admission is free for under-14s!
