Where can we go to swim?

Fancy going swimming in the unspoilt natural environment of the Montagne Noire?
There are various lakes suitable for swimming all around the area!

LAMPY LAKE

How about a swim in one of the lakes that is part of the water supply system for the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO site?

Lampy lake in Saissac was built in the 18th century and allows for a more abundant water supply for the Rigole de la Montagne and so for the Canal du Midi. This became imperative when the Canal de la Robine was linked to the Canal du Midi to join Narbonne to the navigation system linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

You’ll be swimming in a place that is brimming in history. In the summer (July and August), there is a lifeguard at the Lampy lake beach, so that you can go swimming surrounded by nature with complete peace of mind.

BIROTOS LAKE

This hill reservoir was initially designed as a fire protection measure to store a large amount of water. Birotos lake in Pradelles-Cabardès came to be in 1973. Nestled beneath the village, the 7-hectare site has become a wonderful setting to relax and unwind.

When temperatures are very high, you can come here to cool off. The water quality is superb and the large swimming area is supervised by a lifeguard in the summer.

LAPRADE BASSE LAKE

Laprade Basse lake also boasts a leisure complex since 2024 to mark the summer Olympic Games hosted by France. Laprade Basse lake in Cuxac-Cabardès was in fact a training ground for athletes.
You can now come and enjoy this leisure complex and there’s a lifeguard there in the summer.
